Obtaining your API Keys from Shopify

To set up an app for your Shopify store, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Shopify store and select "Apps" from the left-side menu.

  2. Click on "App and sales channel settings."

  3. Click on "Develop apps."

  4. If this is your first time creating an app for your Shopify account, you will see the "Start developing apps on your store" message. Click on the "Allow custom app development" button.

  5. Click on the "Allow custom app development" button again.

  6. Click on the "Create an app" button.

  7. Enter an "App name" and click the "Create app" button. The "App developer" will be automatically selected as the current user and can be changed if desired.

  8. After creating the app, you will be redirected to the page below. Click on the "Configure Admin API scopes."

  9. Scroll down to the "Admin API access scopes" section and specify the access permissions for the app. Check the values you need in the table provided and click on the "Save" button in the top right corner of the page.

  10. Once you're done with the access scopes, click on the "Install app" button in the top right corner of the page. The confirmation screen will appear. Click on the "Install" button to proceed.

  11. Click the "Reveal token once" button to make the access token visible. The hostname (i.e., your store name) is also highlighted in the top left corner.

  12. Copy the Admin API access token and the hostname. The hostname is the store name you can obtain from the store URL: "yourstorename.myshopify.com".
