Updating Amazon Accounts
Back

This document outlines how to upgrade Amazon accounts to use the new Amazon SP API. This only applies if the customer has an active Amazon (MWS) integration. If adding a new Amazon channel, do not follow this document.

Amazon (MWS): Amazon MWS is the old Amazon connection; any account who had Amazon before 18th July on Channel API Amazon MWS is called "Amazon". See Ref 1 below.

Note: On the 31st July 2022 the Amazon logo will move to the SP API and the current MWS will be removed from this screen. The logo will be updated to indicate this as a legacy connection.

Step One

Login to your Channels account at the following URL: https://production.channelapi.co.uk

Once you have logged in, click on the "Stores" menu on the left and select the store you wish to manage. Please note you may have more then one store; if this is the case, please select the store that contains your Amazon account. If you have multiple stores with Amazon accounts, please do these one at a time.

Step Two

Select the Amazon account you are going to update the connection for.

Note: The provider will show as "amazon" for MWS connections.

Make a note of the exact time and date and then turn off the channel.

Critical: You must make a note of the exact time and date you turn off the channel. If you do not do this, you could have order duplicates once you move to the new connection.

Save the change to the channel.

Step Three

Go to the stores overview screen as below and click "add".

Select Amazon SP from the options.

Enter a channel name for this Amazon channel. We recommend calling it the same as the old MWS connection with a suffix of SP example:

Old Name: Amazon
New Name: Amazon SP

However you can call the channel anything as long as it is unique.

Once you have given the channel as name please also complete the other required channel options such as Marketplace, Fulfilment Channels and Order Statuses.

Critical: You must turn on the "Ignore Orders Before" option and set this value to the exact time and date that you recorded when you turned off the MWS Amazon channel in step two.

image-1658157695758.png

Once you have setup the required channel options and set the "Ignore Orders Before" value, click on the "Save" button to save these settings.

image-1658157714111.png

When the page reloads, you will see two new buttons. These are "Copy Connect Link" and "Connect".

image-1658157724614.png

If you are setting this connection up on your own Amazon account, please click on the "Connect" link to login to Amazon and link your Amazon account to Channels.

If you are setting this connection up as a third party, click on the "Copy Connect Link". This will copy a link to your clipboard; you can then email this link to the Amazon account owner for them to login and link their Amazon account to Channels. As shown below:

Once you have gone through the steps with Amazon to authorise the connection you or your client (if using the "Copy Connect Link" option) will be taken to a final confirmation screen. Once at this screen the connection is complete and the channel can be activated.

Step Four

The last step once the channel connection is made is to turn on the channel as below. If your client has made the connection via the link, you will need to do Step Four once the connection is made. As such, you should ensure your client tells you once they have made the Amazon connection via the link. You can then complete this final step.

Critical:

If you have not input the exact time and date that you recorded when you turned off the MWS Amazon channel in step two into the "Ignore Orders Before" option on the new Amazon SP channel, there is a risk or duplicate orders. Please double check that this is set correctly and that you have no duplicate orders after activating the new channel.

Important: If using stock control.

The new Amazon channel will automatically download and link products with exact SKU matches. However, if your old channel had manual SKU linking these will need to be redone for the new Amazon channel. You can however download the SKU linking for the old Amazon channel, and import this into the new Amazon channel.

If you would like support in doing this please open a support ticket from the Channels platform.
